Basketball - Teams and Rules

There are lot of teams in the NBA like the Los Angeles Lakers or the Boston Celtics and there are lots of skillful players like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, or Kevin Durant. NBA stands for national basketball association.

At the Eastern conference, there is The Atlanta Hawk, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards.

At the Western Conference, there are the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Utah Jazz.

There can be 13-15 players on an NBA basketball team. A basketball game is split into 4 quarters. Each quarter is 12 min long. The basketball halftime is for players to rest and sometimes even a person in the audience either gets an autograph or gets to do some trick shots to entertain guests. You win basketball by scoring more points than the other team. If there is a tie, then they have overtime called OT.

When the NBA starts, there will be a pre-season. The Pre-season is for testing out the players that you traded and see if they can fit in the team, if they can, they stay. But if they cannot, then they get traded. Then there is the regular season, the regular season is the part where you tell if you can get in the playoffs, every team plays 82 games each. In the middle of the regular season, there will be an all-star game, the all-star game is just for fun and only the best players can get in. Only 16 teams can get in the playoffs (8 in the eastern conference and 8 in the western conference) and there are 4 rounds, the first round, conference semifinals, conference finals, and the championship game. The first team that wins 4 games in that round wins the round. In the first round 8 teams get out, in the conference semi-finals, there will be 4 teams out, in the conference finals there will be 2 teams out and, in the finals, there will be 1 team out. And the last team standing will be the winner of the whole NBA season. Then there will be a time when all the teams and players rest. And right before the new NBA season starts, there will be a time when all the teams can ask to trade their players with other team's players, (Even in the pre-season.) There will be extraordinarily little trading in the regular season and in the middle of the regular season, there will be a trading deadline, so after that, there will be no trading till the new season.

The NBA is fun and, in my opinion, if a team wants to win the NBA championship, then they must have at least one or two superstars on their team. Someone that is good at ordering the team and one that will finish the game if there is a tie, or their team is losing points.
